Another fantastic spec we’ve come to love is a right hand drive e36 in Avus Blau with the Alcantara + cloth Boa Boa fabric interior. This particular example has just under 64,000 miles and no rust. This is the perfect budget friendly import!

Exterior - Avus Blau is one of our favorite colors, as it changes colors with varying light (think bright blue in the sun and deep purples in the shade). Paint is in overall great shape, no odd clear coat failure or patches of discoloration. There are usual signs of wear from a car of this age as well as a bit of scratching on the hood courtesy of a lackluster hood vent install. Body panels line up great, no missing liners or signs of prior damage. Factory wheels are still present with 2024 dated tires with loads of tread. This car is a factory M Sport car so it has full aero, which is also in great shape. Glass Euro spec headlights are crack free, all lights and bulbs are also functioning as they should. There is some light scuffing on the underside of the rear bumper on the passenger side.

Interior - The best part of this car is its interior, a European only option “Boa Boa” that matches the Avus Blau exterior. Cloth centers with a retro 90’s design paired with Alcantara bolsters make for a fantastic sport interior. No rips or tears on the seats, all functions work as they should (manual adjustment). Headliner is in need of some love as per usual with these E36’s, as are the door card cloth inserts. Some of the wood trim is missing, and is currently just black plastic. An aftermarket gauge pod has been installed and does function quite well, reading coolant, oil pressure and oil temps. An aftermarket fan switch can be found on the center console. Blowers are strong, with hot heat and cold AC. An aftermarket radio is fitted and works quite well. Aftermarket hub and steering wheel have also been installed. No lights on the dash, no oddities with the electronics. All windows work perfectly as does the sunroof. This car does have a Japanese toll reader so it does scream at you in Japanese upon startup. A partial tool kit (about 75% complete) can be found in the back as well as an OEM medical kit, roadside kit and jack.

Mechanical - Mainly stock, this car hasn’t been altered or modified too much. The M52B20 fires right up with zero hesitation, odd noises or smoke. An aftermarket intake was installed but retains OEM air flow meter. The entire cooling system has also been addressed with a larger and higher flowing aluminum radiator, new water pump and hoses. An aftermarket muffler has also been fitted, we actually quite like its JDM flare, but we also have the original exhaust to be sold with the car. No leaks or dripping from this one. Car drives well, shifts as it should, has plenty of power. The smaller steering wheel is a bit wacky to get used to, but becomes natural with time. Power steering is smooth and consistent, as are brakes.
