Our first imported Disco! We originally snagged this Land Rover to act as a shop rig, but ultimately decided to offer it to the public. This is a rare spec, in great condition and ready to rip. Coniston green is likely one of Land Rovers most iconic and replicated colors, this is factory fitted for this example. Two tone leather over cloth manual interior means no pesky seat motor failures. This Disco is right at home on the freeway as well as on the trails.

This Disco is a 97, due to way Japan dates their imports. This Rover is running the 3.9 V8 that is a bullet proof drivetrain out of a Range Rover Classic. This is a much more resilient motor in comparison to the later Discovery Bosch/Gems motors. Being a D1, this comes with the holy grail of transfer cases, an LT230 (mechanically locking). We have the same setup in our OG Range Rover Classic, which has proved itself to us over many years and miles.

Exterior: Coniston green is a stunning color, one of those constantly sought after specs that look amazing on Land Rovers. This particular example just received a light polish which brought it back to life, making it shine in all lights. The body on this Disco is insanely straight, no major dents or dings. Zero rust on this car, which is absolutely unheard of these days. There is one scratch on the passenger front fender that was attempted to be re colored with a paint pen, if you know Rovers, this is best case scenario. Typically these older rigs have 4 different colors and dents on every panel. On the roof is a dealer optioned, mint condition full rack with adjustable arms. We even have the OEM hardware and cross bars in the bag that tucks under the rear seats. This package also came with a rear ladder which works amazing, you can hop up to the roof within seconds. Another dealer added option are the steel wheels, which do have some bubbling under the paint (of course the only spot of corrosion on this car is on the wheels). Mounted to the wheels is a brand new set of 5x BFG KO3’s. All doors open and close perfectly, central locking working on every corner by its original key.

Interior: This Discovery is spec’d with the coolest cloth on leather interior, the fabric screams Land Rover (literally). Seats are in nice shape, some of the fabric is separating from the leather but can easily be fixed with some time and love. The fabric and leather itself is not ripping or tearing. Cluster, dashboard and all things up front are in working order, blowers kicking out wicked hot heat and the AC blowing nice and cold. There is an aftermarket radio that works very well with its AUX plug, however the OEM Land Rover speakers are a little lackluster. This car has its original, Discovery carpet floor mats that look peak 90’s as well as its dealer delivered leather bound manual with booklets. Rear seats are in great shape, that same 90’s plush carpet floor mat stretch from corner to corner. The rear seats have their own sunroof as well as safari windows and mesh net ceiling storage. If you have rear passengers, they’re in for a treat. Behind the rear seats are the jump seats and cargo area. One jump seat is perfectly fixed and works amazing. The passenger side rear jump seat is present but needs to be re mounted, looks to have been removed to access the rear lights for a bulb replacement. We removed the rear floor mat to check for any corrosion on the tubs corrugated base, it was the cleanest we’ve ever seen in many years of old Rovers (Zero signs of any wear or aging).

Mechanical: When we originally got the Disco, it ran out of fuel on us (all cars are siphoned at the port for weight reasons). This of course led to the fuel pump burning up. So, this Rover has a fresh in tank fuel pump as well as a new fuel filter. The car fires right up, zero odd noises, zero smoke. We’ve put around 1200 miles on the rig since its landed in the US, and its been fantastic. Whether we’re hauling parts, taking the dogs on an adventure, or commuting around town, its performed perfectly. The 3.9 liter v8 in this Discovery is an uncommon site, as it was typically found in Range Rover Classics or very, very early Discoveries. With that being said, we actually selected this car specifically for this drivetrain, as it is absolutely rock solid and easy to work on. This particular motor only truly suffers from weak head-gaskets. This Disco can clearly be seen to have had them replaced, which means this Rover is ready for the miles to come. This V8 idles beautifully, pulls strong, burns no oil, and stays nice and cool no matter the situation. Cooling system is also in amazing shape with no leaks or oddities. An LT230 transfer case is fitted to this rig, the most sought after of all Land Rover T Cases as it is known to be indestructible and the best at mechanically locking (other models have a viscous Borg Warner ocking Tcase). The 4 speed transmission shifts spot on, no lag or delays. Suspension is Bilstein with stock springs, the car rides amazingly well. Lastly, an OEM+ dealer fitted fully stainless performance exhaust was fitted when it was new. We have the actual dealer catalog in our office that shows all of these options and their prices back in the 90’s.

All in all, this is a time capsule, creampuff of a Discovery. Typically these rigs will have 30 owners, dents, dings, non operational electronics, bad tires, etc. Meanwhile this Disco is ready to roll, needing nothing, full of life and excited for more.

This vehicle is sold with a clean Oregon title in the buyers name.
