Our first E12! We’ve had so many E28’s now, we felt it was only right to take a step back in time and snag something slightly older. This era of BMW is so iconic, the materials and craftsmanship was undoubtedly some of the best of its time. These early 5 series are extremely hard to find in original, unmolested and in overall clean condition as they are now 45+ years old. We’re happy to say this is one of those few left out there that is a genuine time capsule.

Finished in Alpine white, our favorite five series color, over a vibrant and healthy blue cloth interior. Cosmetically on the outside, this one looks original and in amazing shape. The most noteworthy attribute would be its extremely rare and sought after BBS front valance, paired nicely with a BBS rear spoiler and BBS Mahle wheels. Please see attached photo of a period correct BBS advert showing both spoilers. The European chrome bumpers are in amazing shape, showing no rust or corrosion. Underneath, the car looks exactly like what we look for. The body of the car is in amazing shape, bone dry, and showing no corrosion. The front subframe does have some surface corrosion due to the original paint slowly wearing over time, however this level of wear to us is completely acceptable.

Inside the car, the seats look to be healthy, all original, and in great shape. Carpet and console are also clean. The dash does have a few cracks near the windshield, an issue that is common with these E12’s. Being from Japan, this is a Euro spec but with US equivalent executive options such as air conditioning and electric windows. Typically overseas these cars were not equipped with AC, so this is a refreshing twist. We do see some age related discoloration on the C pillars trim fabric as well as a little here and there on the headliner. This is a rare sick top model, so no extra weight from a sun roof or leaky seals.

Mechanically, the car is reported to have no issues. This car has the iconic M10 4 cylinder that BMW used for many, many years both in motorsport racing and in hundreds of thousands of road going cars. This specific M10 is a fuel injected version so no pesky carburetor issues. Enjoy good fuel economy, light front end weight and cheap costs of maintenance. Looking for something with more power? The E12 takes to M20 and M30 6 cylinder engines with zero modification, and since it is so technologically simple, adapting it to this chassis is a breeze.

This E12 is going to price $14,000 to $15,500 with a clean Oregon title in the buyers name. Purchasing this ad does not purchase the car. Please DM us if you’d like to place a deposit.
