Our first E12! We’ve had so many E28’s now, we felt it was only right to take a step back in time and snag something slightly older. This era of BMW is so iconic, the materials and craftsmanship was undoubtedly some of the best of its time. These early 5 series are extremely hard to find in original, unmolested and in overall clean condition as they are now 45+ years old. We’re happy to say this is one of those few left out there that is a genuine time capsule. These cars weigh ~2,600lbs, thats it. With that being said, this car feels more like a 2002/E21 then an E28, which is something we truly love.

Exterior - Finished in Alpine white, our favorite five series color, over a vibrant and healthy blue cloth interior. Cosmetically on the outside the car does look to have received a touch up respray in various spots, however it is blended beautifully and measures to a consistent depth as OEM. The most noteworthy attribute would be its extremely rare and sought after BBS front valance, paired nicely with a Zender rear spoiler and BBS Mahle wheels. The European chrome bumpers are in amazing shape, showing only a touch of surface rust on the front drivers corner, we’d call this patina as its not a concern. Underneath, the car looks exactly like what we look for, clean frame rails and a very straight chassis. Floors are in amazing shape as is the trunk area, battery tray etc. The front jack points, as they have been used and therefor lack the original under sealing paint, show the slightest bit of surface corrosion however this is not structural nor a concern. We have found no physical drops on the ground from this car. Door bottoms are healthy with some light surface corrosion in the corners. Again, all of this is simply surface level, something one can correct in their home garage. There are no rot spots, no holes etc. This is a very well sorted car for its age.

Interior - Blue over white is an iconic combo that we truly love. The original seats are in amazing shape with only one small hole on the drivers lower bolster. All the other seats show some wear however they look absolutely stunning, and are just as comfortable as they look. All adjustments work perfectly as well. The original carpet is clean and in amazing shape. Some dash cracks are present, however there are some great replacement options out there as well as dash mats that we’ve come to love. An aftermarket radio has been fitted, with speakers, and it works exceptionally well (with bluetooth)! All blowers work amazing, with hot heat. The AC blows cool but not cold so we’d recommend a recharge down the road. All instrument cluster functions work perfectly, as do the electric front windows and electric mirror adjustments. The headliner does have some staining, however it is not sagging. This is a slick top car with manual crank rear windows. A fully complete rear trunk is present with a nearly complete OEM took kit and factory spare.

Mechanical - This is an M10 car with fuel injection, which works brilliantly. The car fires right up, drives amazing, stays nice and cool and cruises on the freeway. The transmission shifts spot on, the suspension feels nice and tight (looks to have very recently been treated to a set of Koni shocks and springs). No smoke, no odd sounds or fluid consumptions. This is a cruiser through and through. It can also however be the perfect donor chassis for your next s54, m50, m30, m88 etc swap. Brakes and tight and predictable, as is steering. Nothing weird with this one, just a good o'l’ BMW.
